Community Midwives
The practice midwife, Hannah Frost, is available in the practice on Thursdays. Patients who are unable to attend on a Thursday, can see a midwife on a Wednesday by booking in with Observatory Medical Practice, also based in Jericho Health Centre.
Antenatal care is usually shared between the GP and the midwife for uncomplicated pregnancies. Any problems are usually referred to the hospital obstetricians, with whom the midwife has regular contact. If you are making an appointment for a first booking please be aware that it is a one hour appointment.
The midwife attends deliveries at the community unit in The John Radcliffe Hospital and supervises the care of mothers and babies while there. She may also work shifts at the hospital (in the delivery suite, outpatient clinics or on the wards) as part of her professional development, and so there may be a different midwife in the practice some weeks.
Midwives visit mothers and their new babies when they return home. The midwife may also visit patients at home at other times (for example to check on arrangements for a home birth).
Community Nurses
Our team of experienced district nurses visit patients who are housebound. They provide home nursing care, advice and support to patients and their carers.
They can be contacted on 01865 903650. Leave a message if they are out on visits and you will be called back later.
Health Visitors
A health visitor is a registered nurse who has received training particularly related to babies, children and pregnant women. Their role is to provide support and advice for families with children under five years old.
They work with the practice but are employed through 'Oxford Health'. They can be telephoned on 01865 903077.
Children over the age of five are normally followed up by the School Nursing Service.
Attached Staff
- Care Navigator: The Care Navigator works with the Practice to support patients and carers in accessing services they may need. Referals are made by the GPs and the Care Navigator then contacts the patient by telephone to arrange a visit. The Care Navigator will then folow up with visits and phone contacts that have been agreed with the patient.
Mental Health Practitioner
Alex Prosser is a Specialist Mental Health Practitioner who works across the PCN, providing support to patients experiencing mental illness.
MIND Wellbeing Support Worker
Mia Sarosi and Kasia Sikora-Smtih are wellbeing support workers employed by MIND. They work in the Practice every day, providing a space for patients to receive emotional and practical support around their wellbeing through face to face or telephone appointments.
